Making an Impact in our Local Community
Supporting Peninsula Health
Rotary Rosebud-Rye contributed a gift of $2,500 towards a much-needed Prostate Probe for Peninsula Health in the 2024-25 year.
Also, through the three sites - Rosebud, Mornington and Frankston - we donated large and small household goods needed to support daily living for clients who are to be discharged from hospital, once a place to reside has been found for them.
Support for disadvantaged TAFE students through the Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation
The Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation supports current and potential future students of Chisholm TAFE (Rosebud) who, due to financial hardship, might otherwise not have access to vocational education and training.
Scholarships are granted to support students studying a course at Chisholm Institute, who are then able to enter the workforce and help themselves to become self-supporting.
The Club donated $2,500 towards the Foundation in 2024-25
Helping to prevent Domestic Violence: Change for Sam - Safety Monitoring Devices
Change for Sam was founded in response to the tragic murder of Samantha Fraser. The mission of the organisation is to prevent and address family violence through comprehensive programs that provide round-the-clock support to survivors and their loved ones.
Our Club responded to a new project which offers free, 24/7 monitored personal alarms to victim survivors of family violence through a 'loan library' system. In partnership with The Salvation Army, Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault (GCASA) and WRISC Family Violence Support Inc alarms are safely distributed to their clients in need.
The Club donated $1,086 in 2024-25 for 24/7 Monitored Safety Devices for 12 months.
Support for local community members through: Breakfast Club and Community Lunch
Financial support through Capel Sound Community Hub (formerly known as Seawinds Community Hub) to enable the provision of weekly Breakfast Club for Eastbourne Primary School students, and weekly Community Lunch for local older residents.
The Club donated $5,734 in 2024-25 for this vital support.
New Years Eve - Support for our first responders
New Years Eve - a big night out for the thousands of holiday makers having fun in the sun on the Mornington Peninsula!
This also means a big night for our police and emergency service people - and so, our Rotary Club has for many years provided a hearty meal at Rosebud Police Station before the teams head out for a long night.
Partnering with Our Village - Gifts in Kind
We are proud to partner with Our Village (previously known as St Kilda Mums) to collect pre-loved essential items for children in
need.
We regularly deliver good quality goods to Our Village to support the families that they are working with.
In addition, and depending on the need at the time, we run campaigns - usually twice a year - to collect additional clothing and toys for babies and children 0 - 16 years.
